The witch trials of 1692 is an interesting, albeit dark story. It is hard for many of us to comprehend how the mass hysteria that led to so many hangings could have reached the frenzy it did.

This book attempts to not only tell the story of the trials, but to also explain why this could have gotten so out of hand.

You learn what part religion played and why people reacted like they did. Learn about the girls who started this frenzy and how they accused not only suspected witches in the area, but many affluent people and even a 4 year old child!

Find out why some of the accused turned on their neighbors and how two of the accused were found guilty and hanged despite petitions signed by many members of the community.

The crushing death of Corey Giles leaves you wondering how a man could be so strong. And how one man, despite knowing he would in turn be accused of witchcraft, spoke out against the girls and the court and helped shift people's mindsets with his words at the gallows just before he was hanged.

Finally you find out how this period of madness was finally put to an end.

Now is there any wonder that Salem is considered to be a haunted city? Read about some of the proclaimed haunting in the city today and check them out for yourself when you are in the area.

This book was written in a way that should entertain you as the author adds his own comments and feelings. The book is meant to not bog you down with historical facts but to help you understand more about what went on. It discusses some of the key figures, the accused and accusers.

When you learn what "spectral evidence" is and how it played in the court, you will be in disbelief.

Read this book today and there's a good chance Salem may go on your list of places to visit.

I too visited Salem, MA with my family a few years ago and sincerely believe I could have written this book simply by using most of the pamphlets we received upon visiting the various sites, recalling the stories that were shared with us and doing a small amount of research to fill gaps in a couple of places.

This book was riddled with grammatical and spelling errors which grew to be bothersome very quickly. It feels much like a fluff piece found in a pamphlet describing what you can expect to see or do at an attraction. It may be more suitable for young adult readers. While I will not and can not dispute the factual information it contains, it was pretty simplistic, very short and just glossed over some of the main happenings of that time period. To me what felt most out of place were the spots the author chose to insert a sarcastic sounding comment like "no brainer" and/or chose to insert their opinion of what happened and why.

My advice? If you want a quick, light read on this subject then pick up a copy. If you were looking for something more in depth and quality written, then skip this one.

The Salem Witch Trials Haunting Real Haunting Book 3 eBook Bob Blick Reviews

While I did learn some minute details I did not know before, this book really shed no new light on the topic. It's good for an introduction to the Salem Witch Trials, but watching "The Crucible" can give you the same overview. Overall, I was disappointed.
This book expresses the history of what occurred during the Salem witch trials. Detailed all the characters and the people that were accused of being witches
Just didn't enjoy it.
The book was interesting. It collaborated other book I have read but also has new little tid bits as well
I greatly appreciated this book. While it covered most of what every one harnessing about the witch trails, it also gave ideas for your own research.
I thoroughly enjoy the topic of the Salem Witch Trials. This author seems to have done his research and put together a cohesive (though short and rather superficial) review of the time period. However, the quality of writing or editing is not up to par with what I am used to reading. I felt as if I were reading an unedited version of someone simply speaking into a microphone on a speech-to-text program. Quite frankly, it annoyed me.

This book is not worth the $2.99 I paid for it. I could have gone to a Salem Witch Trials website and found all of the information for free, and without the irritating writing.
I found the book to be mildly entertaining and not all that well written. The author did explain the way evil people exploited the people's weakness and mentality to get rid of people in their way. Probably the same manipulation and corruption still exists today. I also thought the book was lacking in substantial details.
